The Premier Festival of Machine Embroidered QuiltsTerms and Conditions 1. An entry into the competition implies full acceptance of all conditions of entry, including the instructions on how to enter as advertised in Creative Expressions magazine and available online at www.creativelivingmedia.com.au/info/meq.2. Entry is open to all residents of Australia except employees and immediate families of the promoter, sponsors, associated companies and agencies associated with this promotion.3. An entry will only be accepted when accompanied by the entry form available from our website www.creativelivingmedia.com.au/info/meq If you are sending multiple entries, separate entry forms must be used.4. The entered quilt must be no smaller than 152cm (60in) square but can be any size. They must have a rod pocket of lightweight fabric 10cm (4in) wide attached to the top of the quilt. If the quilt exceeds 245cm (96 1/2in) in length, then a second 10cm (4in) rod pocket must be attached 245cm (96 1/2in) up from the bottom of the quilt. 5. At least 50 per cent of the quilt must be covered with machine embroidery. The machine embroidery can be one or a combination of, digitized designs, stitch building, original or commercial designs. The overall effectiveness of this design will be the major factor in the judging of the quilts. Other factors that play a part in the decision, to a lesser degree, are colour, quilting, binding and piecing. Quilts must have been completed in the last two years, quilts older than that will not be accepted.5. Entries will be judged in one category only and prizes will be awarded to First, Second and Third prize winners. 8. Entrants are requested to provide any background information concerning their entry that may be of interest, including the design motivation and techniques used.9. Entries must be in pristine condition. Soiled, worn or damaged quilts will not be accepted.10. All quilts must have a label sewn securely to the back including the name and address of the entrant and the title of the quilt.11. Photographs of entries must not have been previously published in print or electronic form anywhere in the world.12. The promoter reserves the right to refuse, and assume no liability for, entries that require special handling. Quilts must be able to be folded. Quilts with fragile embellishments, special hanging apparatus or frames will not be accepted.13. Quilts can be completed within the past three years.14. Credit must be given to the designer of any digitized designs, artist or workshop that was the source of the pattern or was a significant design influence on the work. 15. Entries close at 5.00pm on Friday 2nd August 2008. Entries should be mailed to Australian Quilt Show, c/- Creative Living Media, PO Box 645, Rozelle, NSW, 2039. Alternatively, courier quilts to the street address at 145 Beattie Street, Balmain, NSW 2041. All queries should be directed to Creative Living Media, 02 9555 9322 . 17. The entries will be judged, and the winners will be selected in August 2008. Winners will be announced at the Sydney Stitches & Craft Show on 20th August 2008. The three prize winners and runners up will be notified by mail and by telephone on or before 31st August 2008 and announced in Creative Expressions magazine to be published in 2008. 19. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes will be awarded on the basis of merit. Chance plays no part in determining the winners. 20. The winning quilts, the runners up quilt, and any other entry deemed suitable for exhibition/photographing must be made available to the promoters and sponsors for up to 12 months after the closing date of the competition. 21. Entrants are responsible for the cost of delivering their entry, and the package must include stamps to cover the cost of the return postage. 22. Quilts are required to be posted in an appropriately sized and sturdy post pack (not box) with entrants return address clearly marked as well as the name of the quilt. Quilts will be returned in this same packaging.23. The promoter and sponsors retain the first publication rights to publish photos of the winning entrants and the winning quilts. Entrants agree to allow photography of their quilt and to permit the image of their quilt to be used in articles, advertisements, promotions, catalogues, books, websites and/or multi-media productions at the discretion of the promoter. Entrants will be credited in such instances, but will receive no specific compensation for any such use. 25. The promoter is Creative Living Media Pty Ltd, PO Box 645 Rozelle NSW 2039. The sponsors are Unique Creative Opportunities, PO Box 2156, Carlingford Court NSW 2118, Bernina Australia, PO Box 268, Castle Hill NSW 1765, Dayview Textiles, RNK Distributing and Stitches & Craft Shows (Reed Exhibitions – Australia). 26. For recording purposes names, addresses and other personal information of all entrants will be entered into a database. The database may be used for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes, unless otherwise stated by the entrants. If you do not wish to receive any information unrelated to this event, simply tick the box on the entry form. This will not exclude you from entry to the competition. Please see privacy note below for further information. 27. Winners must agree to provide background information regarding the making of the quilt and a photograph of themselves for editorial and publicity use. 28. Neither the promoters or sponsors will accept responsibility for lost, misdirected or delayed mail or for any damage to or loss of the entry while in their care. Entrants may take out suitable insurance to protect their entry, however this is not a condition of entry and is entirely at the discretion of the entrant. The promoter is not in a position to give advice on this matter to entrants.29. Entrants must agree not to permit any other magazine other than Creative Expressions (or Creative Living Media titles) to publish or feature the entered quilt within a 12 month period from the competition closing date of Friday 2nd August, 2008.Privacy Note: With your permission, your details may be recorded so we can send you information about similar competitions/ products/ services from the promoter/ sponsors or carefully vetted third parties.
